Dictionary of
Modern Urban Life
Taking the hot issues in contemporary urban life as the background, I have reorganised and deconstructed the Chinese characters in accordance with the logic of word-making to produce a dictionary of modern urban life and its interpretation.
At first glance, these Chinese characters are unknown. In fact, through this project, I have expressed the changes of Chinese characters in the context of different eras, and triggered people's thoughts and reflections on the changes of contemporary urban life.

I conducted research on current hot issues in urban life and transformed these phenomena into illustrations. I deconstructed Chinese characters, restructured them according to the logic of character creation, and transformed them into new characters to create the "Modern Urban Life Dictionary" and provide explanations.

Fixtures Design
I choose to use mirrors as the main material to combine with designed books to make devices in public places. I wrote down the new Chinese characters created according to the problems of urban life on the mirror. The mirror panel surrounded by four sides will allow people in the city to see their own appearance while seeing Chinese characters. People look at the characters on the mirror and read books. The mirror is more like the reflection of their own life.

Project Summary

This project focuses on the study of Chinese cigarette labels, aiming to explore the important role of cigarette labels in cigarette products, not only as external packaging and logos, but also as an important means to protect and enhance the products. In addition to their practical functions, cigarette labels also carry vivid designs and rich cultural connotations, becoming a vivid record of the evolution of social customs and historical footprints.

By compiling cigarette labels from 1836 to 2022, this project aims to show how the evolution of cigarette labels fits into the historical process. Each cigarette label is a symbol of a contemporary brand, witnessing the development of the country and reflecting the spirit of different times. This research, presented in the form of a related book, is dedicated to revealing the rich stories behind cigarette labels, providing a unique and interesting perspective to explore the changing times.

In the form of an exquisitely designed book, this research is not just an exploration of cigarette labels; it is a visual journey, an artful tapestry that unravels the hidden stories behind each label. The book design itself is a manifestation of the rich narratives concealed within these labels, providing readers with a unique and captivating perspective on the profound interplay between design evolution and the ever-shifting currents of time.
